How long does a typical 3D print take?
Most small to medium prints take 2 to 8 hours on an FDM printer. Large or highly detailed prints can run 12 hours or more depending on layer height, infill, and speed settings.
Does layer height affect print time?
Yes, significantly. Halving the layer height roughly doubles print time because the printer must complete twice as many layers. Use 0.2mm for a good balance of speed and quality.
Are resin printers faster than FDM?
Resin printers cure an entire layer at once regardless of how many objects are on the build plate, making them faster for detailed or batch prints. However, post-processing adds extra time.
How much does infill affect print duration?
Higher infill means more material to deposit, which increases print time. Going from 20 percent to 100 percent infill can more than double the printing duration.
